How Ernest Osazuwa committed suicide over a mere girlfriend

The body of a twenty six years old youth corps member serving in Redemption Secondary School, Ofombogha 1 in Obubra Local government Area was last night (Wednesday) recovered from his one room apartment after he killed himself by taking a poisonous substance.

Reports from the area told www.mycrossriver.com that the young man who is in love with a fellow corps member, Chioma Okewuru   went berserk and committed suicide after the girl came back from her village over the weekend with a ring from a man she has promised to marry during the Easter period.

“According to the girl, she had told the guy that she would not marry him but they could be friends so when she came back from the weekend and showed him the ring her purported husband to be gave her, the young man became furious and yesterday (Wednesday) the situation became worse and at about 7 pm he locked himself in the room and took some poisonous substances” Mr Noah Ntuen the Acting Divisional Police Officer for Obubra told www.mycrossriver.com d on phone.

Ernest who is from Edo State and a graduate of Delta State University Department of Library and Information Science was posted to Yobe initially but as a result of the boko haram crisis in the a northern part of the Nigeria, Ernest wrote a redeployment letter following the advice given by the NYSC board then in September and he was later posted to Cross River State in September. During the Batch B Orientation period where he met and fell in love with Chioma.

“They met at the NYSC Orientation Camp at Abrekpe –Ebokpo and as luck would have it, they were both posted to the same school where they had a relationship going and he had the hope the whole thing would end in marriage but Chioma already had another person whom she wants to marry”. A source from the school where the two lovers are serving said.

The body of the deceased youth corps member, Nr Ntuen said has been deposited at the mortuary of the Obubra General Hospital while Chioma is with the police where investigations on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death are in progress.
